    • Vultr partners with AMD, Broadcom, and Juniper to develop a cutting-edge data centre architecture for AI workloads.
    • The collaboration enhances scalability, security, and flexibility, supporting GPU-accelerated tasks from data centres to edge computing.

What happened: Vultr boosts cloud cluster with AMD, Broadcom, and Junipe

Independent cloud infrastructure provider Vultr has partnered with AMD, Broadcom, and Juniper Networks to develop a new data centre architecture leveraging the technology of all four companies. This collaboration aims to support global AI training and inference workloads through an open ecosystem approach. As part of the expansion of Vultr’s Chicago cloud data centre at Centersquare’s Lisle, Illinois, AMD will supply its Instinct MI300X GPUs and ROCm software stack for a new supercomputer cluster. Broadcom will provide Ethernet network adapters, while Juniper contributes AI-optimised networking solutions to create a robust and scalable infrastructure. The partnership is designed to enable enterprises and AI innovators to unlock new frontiers in GPU-accelerated workloads, spanning from data centres to edge computing. According to Vultr’s CEO, J.J. Kardwell, the open ecosystem enhances flexibility, scalability, and security, while Juniper’s Praveen Jain highlighted the critical role of high-performance connectivity in AI innovation.

    Why it is important

The partnership between Vultr, AMD, Broadcom, and Juniper is significant because it addresses the growing demand for advanced data centre infrastructure to support global AI workloads. With AI applications requiring immense computing power and high-performance connectivity, this collaboration brings together cutting-edge technologies to enable enterprises and innovators to scale their AI training and inference processes efficiently. Vultr’s use of AMD’s Instinct MI300X GPUs and ROCm software stack delivers powerful GPU acceleration, critical for handling the computational intensity of modern AI models. Broadcom’s Ethernet network adapters and Juniper’s AI-optimised networking solutions further enhance connectivity, ensuring operational efficiency and reduced latency across the infrastructure.

By adopting an open ecosystem approach, this collaboration promotes flexibility, interoperability, and security, making it easier for businesses to integrate and adapt to evolving AI requirements. The expanded cloud cluster in Vultr’s Chicago data centre represents a step forward in meeting the demands of enterprises while pushing the boundaries of GPU-accelerated workloads, from core data centres to edge environments.
