Stop technology from following into China
The United States is reportedly working on a list of advanced Chinese chip manufacturing plants that are barred from receiving key tools to make it easier for companies to block the flow of technology to China. A person familiar with the matter said the list could be released in the coming months.
The Commerce Department in 2022 banned American companies from shipping equipment to Chinese factories that make advanced chips, as the United States sought to severely limit Beijing’s technological advances on national security grounds.

Exaggerated concept of ‘national security’
But U.S. companies say it is difficult to determine which factories in China make advanced chips and have long urged the Commerce Department to publish a list. The effort shows that the United States is taking pains to tighten existing chip restrictions on China and make it easier for American companies to comply with them.
The Commerce Department did not comment.
A spokesman for the Chinese Embassy in Washington responded that the United States should “stop over-exaggerating the concept of national security and stop abusing state power to suppress Chinese companies.”
