    • Tech Mahindra and AWS have teamed up to develop an AI-driven platform for modernising telecom network operations.
    • The new Autonomous Network Operational Platform (ANOP) promises to cut costs and improve network performance by automating key processes and providing real-time insights.

    What happened

Tech Mahindra has taken a step into the future of telecom with a new partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS). Together, they’ve unveiled the Autonomous Network Operational Platform (ANOP), a solution designed to transform the way telecom operators manage their networks. By harnessing the power of generative AI, machine learning (ML), and AI-driven automation, the platform enables telecom service providers (CSPs) to modernise their operations, moving away from outdated on-premises systems towards a more agile, cloud-based infrastructure.

The collaboration combines AWS’s industry-leading AI technologies, like Amazon SageMaker and Amazon Bedrock, with Tech Mahindra’s deep expertise in telecom networks. ANOP is more than just another tool – it offers a significant upgrade in how network operations are managed. For instance, it promises to boost productivity in Network Operations Centres (NOCs) by more than 50%, cut field visits by over 15%, and shorten the time it takes to fix network issues by 30%. These improvements translate into faster service delivery, more proactive network management, and better overall customer experience.

    Why this is important

In a telecom landscape that’s rapidly evolving with the shift to cloud-native, virtualised networks, this partnership represents a key milestone. The introduction of generative AI is poised to revolutionise network operations, bringing a level of automation and intelligence that was previously unimaginable. With real-time insights and the ability to predict and prevent issues before they escalate, operators can stay ahead of the curve, improving both operational efficiency and network performance.

But it’s not just about reducing costs – it’s also about opening up new possibilities for the telecom industry. The ANOP platform’s AI capabilities, for instance, allow for smarter decision-making, from field dispatch optimisation to proactive service maintenance. This shift to a more efficient, cloud-native environment also lays the groundwork for future innovations, such as the adoption of Open RAN (O-RAN), which could change the game for how networks are built and managed in the coming years.

As telecom operators continue to navigate the complexities of modernising their networks, Tech Mahindra and AWS’s partnership offers a glimpse into a smarter, more sustainable future for the industry. Their work is paving the way for a future where AI doesn’t just support network operations but actively drives them.
