  • RETN has launched its first Point of Presence (PoP) in Thessaloniki, Greece.
  • The new PoP strengthens RETN’s Pan-Eurasian network, offering scalable and secure network services to regional businesses.

What happened: RETN launches PoP in Greece

RETN, a leading global network services provider, has launched its first Point of Presence (PoP) in Thessaloniki, Greece, at the Balkan Gate data centre. This strategic move expands RETN’s Pan-Eurasian network, connecting the Balkans to the Mediterranean region. The Thessaloniki PoP is integrated into RETN’s Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) backbone via Sofia, a key regional hub.

The new PoP will offer a variety of connectivity services, including Layer 3 IP Transit/DIA and Layer 2 VPN services. These solutions provide scalable, reliable, and secure network options to businesses in Greece and the surrounding areas. RETN’s partnership with LANCOM facilitated the PoP’s launch, ensuring Greek telecom and enterprise customers can access high-quality IP Transit services.

Why it’s important

The launch of RETN’s first PoP in Greece represents a key milestone in the company’s strategy to expand into the Balkans, one of the fastest-growing regions in its network. By establishing a PoP in Thessaloniki, RETN aims to enhance its connectivity offering, delivering superior services to its existing enterprise and wholesale customers while also capitalising on the untapped potential of the Greek market.

The new PoP facilitates businesses in Greece and the surrounding region with reliable, high-performance connectivity options that integrate seamlessly into RETN’s vast Pan-Eurasian network. This expansion is set to unlock new opportunities for regional businesses, strengthening RETN’s position in the Mediterranean and beyond.
