- Supports connectivity, traffic analysis and DDoS protection
Services and bandwidth exchange at PAV
PAV Burkina Faso began operations in late 2018 under a government-supported infrastructure project. The site is a virtual landing point for undersea fibre cables in Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso. The infrastructure provides secure and stable international bandwidth to national operators. The platform offers internet exchange services and bandwidth landing. PAV offers global internet access with speeds from 45 Mbps to over 5 Gbps. It also provides traffic analysis by application and protocol.
The service includes advice on optimisation and DDoS protection for links. PAV ensures reliable connectivity to member operators. The cooperative model allows access to shared connectivity infrastructure. It operates under national digital development goals to reduce the digital divide. The platform aims to increase sustainability and support regional telecom ecosystems. PAV collaborates with government, telecom operators and regional bodies.

Infrastructure and regional role of PAV
PAV operates multiple sites and networks to support bandwidth landing. It began commercial service in December 2018 with limited staff. The platform became fully operational in early 2019. Initial capacity stood at 5 Gbps acquired through service contracts. Later upgrades added 15 Gbps in 2020. That capacity is shared between Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso virtual landing points. The investment totalled over 3 billion FCFA funded by national and international partners.
The platform includes around 23 active members and some main sites. Its infrastructure supports fibre landing, exchange points and complementary services. PAV fosters local interconnection and lowers international bandwidth costs. It provides stable routes for national telecom providers and ISPs. It enables faster connectivity and lower latency. The platform uses standard networking equipment and remote monitoring. It continues to plan regional expansion of landing and exchange sites. PAV supports Burkina Faso’s goal of digital transformation and access.
