Orange unveils world’s first 5G CNaaS solution

  • Orange launches a cloud-based 5G core network as a service (CNaaS) solution for global operators.
  • The fully managed service offers simplified deployment, scalability, and integrated security compliance.

What happened: Orange introduces 5G CNaaS to simplify deployment

At MWC25, global telecom operator Orange introduced its 5G Core Network as a Service (CNaaS), the first of its kind. This solution simplifies 5G standalone (SA) deployment, offering mobile operators a cloud-based, fully managed5G core network.

With CNaaS, operators no longer need to build or manage their own core networks, making 5G SA rollout faster and more affordable. Built on a trusted telco cloud, it ensures scalability, security, and compliance.

A key feature is the ‘pay-as-you-grow’ model, which lets operators scale services based on demand without upfront costs. This makes 5G SA more accessible, especially for smaller and regional operators.

Orange also provides network management, handling software updates, security, and regulations. The CNaaS solution includes IPX connectivity, real-time signalling, and roaming services, ensuring seamless global connectivity.

The service integrates with Click, Orange’s digital platform, launched in October 2024, allowing operators to order, track, and manage services easily. Orange plans to expand Click with more features.

This launch aligns with Orange’s goal of scalable, eco-friendly network solutions, using virtualisation to cut carbon emissions by reducing physical infrastructure and maintenance travel.

Why it’s important

Orange’s 5G CNaaS reshapes how mobile operators deploy 5G standalone networks, removing cost and complexity barriers. Traditionally requiring large infrastructure investments, 5G core networks were limited to major telecoms, but CNaaS now offers scalable, fully managed access to operators of all sizes.

The pay-as-you-grow model reduces financial risk, making 5G SA more viable, especially in emerging markets. With Orange handling security, compliance, and updates, operators can focus on expanding coverage and improving services.

Integration with Click, Orange’s digital platform, enables real-time network management, reflecting a shift toward cloud-based virtualised solutions. As 5G SA adoption accelerates, CNaaS could drive faster, broader, and more efficient network rollouts globally.
