    • NEC’s new solution cuts telecom infrastructure deployment time by 60%.
    • Supports multi-vendor 5G virtualisation, including vRAN and O-RAN.

What happened: NEC launches AI-Driven solution to accelerate mobile network upgrades

NEC Corporation has introduced a new telecom infrastructure solution aimed at significantly reducing the time required to plan, design, and deploy mobile networks. The new solution is designed to speed up mobile network modernisation by automating and streamlining construction processes, reducing deployment time by approximately 60% compared to traditional methods.

It supports telecom operators transitioning to 5G virtualisation technologies such as vRAN and O-RAN, offering enhanced automation and efficiency. NEC’s new offering includes business process optimisation services, automation technology for network deployment, and real-time operational data monitoring, allowing faster feedback loops.

Built on a microservices architecture, the solution ensures interoperability in multi-vendor environments and supports cloud-native integration. A key feature is NEC’s Network and Cloud-Native Orchestrator, which enables full lifecycle network management from deployment to operation.

This solution is part of the NEC BluStellar brand, which focuses on AI-driven automation in telecom infrastructure. According to NEC, this approach will help telecom providers expand service areas quickly and improve profitability by optimising resource allocation.

    Why it’s important

NEC’s new solution addresses one of the key challenges in the telecom industry: the lengthy and complex process of modernising mobile networks. With the global transition to 5G, operators face increasing pressure to deploy infrastructure quickly while managing costs and ensuring interoperability across vendors.

The inclusion of vRAN and O-RAN support highlights NEC’s focus on open and virtualised network architectures, which are critical for reducing dependency on proprietary hardware. By leveraging AI-driven automation and microservices, the solution aims to improve efficiency in both network construction and ongoing operations.

With telecom carriers investing heavily in 5G network rollouts, reducing deployment times by 60% could lead to faster commercialisation of next-generation mobile services. NEC’s approach aligns with broader industry trends towards cloud-native networks, which enable greater flexibility and scalability.

Given the increasing role of AI in telecom infrastructure, this solution positions NEC as a key player in the evolving mobile network ecosystem.
