  • CBRE has been selected as Kao Data’s new facilities management partner, handling a full range of services across its data centre portfolio in the UK and Europe.
  • The partnership includes oversight of the upcoming Manchester facility, set to open in 2026, highlighting the long-term potential for Kao Data’s European expansion and CBRE’s role in supporting it.

What happened: Data centre facilities added by Kao Data

Kao Data, a leader in developing AI-focused data centres, has announced CBRE as its new facilities management (FM) partner. CBRE, the world’s largest commercial real estate firm, will oversee the management of Kao Data’s cutting-edge facilities in London and a planned site in Manchester, set to open in 2026. The contract includes a comprehensive range of services, from maintaining critical electrical and cooling systems to managing day-to-day operations like security and cleaning.

This partnership comes as Kao Data continues to expand its presence in Europe, aiming to support high-demand industries such as financial services, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence (AI) development. CBRE’s expertise in managing hyperscale data centres makes it a strategic choice to bolster Kao Data’s infrastructure and maintain its reputation for 100% uptime and sustainability.

Why this is important

The collaboration is a significant step for both companies. For Kao Data, partnering with a global powerhouse like CBRE strengthens its ability to meet the increasing demand for AI-focused data centre facilities across Europe. The Manchester facility, once operational, will become a critical part of Kao Data’s portfolio, marking its northernmost expansion.

For CBRE, this agreement underscores its leadership in facilities management within high-tech and AI-driven industries. While this contract may have minimal financial impact on CBRE’s $43 billion market cap, it solidifies its position in the lucrative European data centre market. With sustainability and efficiency as shared goals, the partnership could pave the way for long-term growth and innovation in advanced computing infrastructure.
