AWS launch and impact

Jeff Bezos’ creation Amazon Web Services (AWS) can be traced back to Amazon’s internal needs and strategic shifts.

In 2003, Amazon, as the world’s largest online retailer, was rapidly expanding its business and building large-scale data centres to support its e-commerce platform. Jeff Bezos realised that Amazon’s data centre infrastructure had great potential for idleness and unutilisation, which could be provided as cloud computing services in addition to supporting its own business.

Therefore, Jeff Bezos officially launched Amazon Web Services (AWS) in 2006 as Amazon’s cloud computing service department. AWS’s initial services included Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) and Simple Storage Service (S3), which provided enterprises and developers with flexible computing power and storage solutions without the need to build and maintain large-scale IT infrastructure on their own.

The launch of AWS caused a sensation in the industry at the time because it completely changed the way enterprises obtain and use computing resources. The success and rapid growth of AWS has gradually transformed Amazon from just an online retail company to a technology giant, bringing huge growth and revenue to the company.

Jeff Bezos played a key role in the founding of AWS. His vision and decisions made Amazon a leader in the global cloud computing market and opened up new paths and possibilities for enterprise digital transformation.

Andy Jassy’s leadership

Andy Jassy is one of the important leaders and promoters of AWS. He initially joined Amazon in 2003 and soon became one of its important promoters after the establishment of AWS.

Under Jassy’s leadership, AWS has continuously launched new cloud services and features, such as EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud), S3 (Simple Storage Service), RDS (Relational Database Service), etc. These services have greatly promoted the popularity and application of cloud computing. His leadership style emphasises customer first and continuous innovation, enabling AWS to quickly adapt to market needs and maintain competitive advantages.

Although Andy Jassy is not the founder of AWS, his leadership has made AWS an important force in leading technological innovation and promoting the digital transformation of global enterprises.
