    What happened

Indosat Ooredoo hutchison, Indonesia’s largest digital telecommunications company, has completed a major core network integration project in Jakarta in collaboration with global ICT solutions provider Huawei. With over 100 million users and 26 core locations in Indonesia, completing the integration and transition to the cloud core in just 14 months is a remarkable achievement. It has greatly improved the network experience of Indosat users across the country, especially in rural and remote areas.

When Kalimantan residents use Facebook, the average download speed will increase by 15% and the round trip time (RTT) will decrease by 11%. In addition, users in Central Java also enjoyed better performance when using the Internet to play games and live video.

Since the core network is a key component of the mobile network, both teams have worked tirelessly to analyse and review solutions for network integration, ensuring that they adhere to the philosophy of being “right the first time.”

    Why it’s important

The project, which aims to advance and innovate mobile communication technologies, marks an important milestone in the cooperation between the two sides. Using cutting-edge telecom cloud-native technology, Indosat and Huawei have launched bare metal containers and innovative twin-engine container solutions to support large-scale commercial use of 5G core networks. Showcases the technical expertise, hard work, determination and teamwork of Indosat and Huawei in overcoming numerous challenges. Indosat partnered with Huawei to deploy a future-proof core network to accommodate the smart and hyper-distributed architecture of 5G-A. This not only meets current network needs, but also lays the foundation for the launch of new 5G features and services for consumers and enterprise users.

Going forward, Indosat and Huawei will continue to work together to build a more intelligent, efficient and secure mobile communication network in Indonesia to provide users with a better service experience. They will work together to address industry challenges and promote the continued development and innovation of mobile communications technology in Indonesia.
