OUR TAKE
Edged, a subsidiary of Endeavour, has nearly a dozen new data centres either operational or under construction across Europe and North America. Each data centre on the Edged Atlanta campus is fitted with the ThermalWorks waterless cooling system. This system is expected to conserve nearly 664 million gallons of water annually compared to traditional data centres.

What happened
Edged Energy has opened its first data centre in North America, marking the beginning of Edged Atlanta, a high-tech park that will eventually house three such facilities and be equipped with cutting-edge waterless cooling technology and ultra-efficient energy systems.
“Atlanta is the ideal location for our first North American data centre. The project sets a new standard for sustainable development and represents a $1.77 billion economic investment in the region, bringing hundreds of jobs and millions in funding for Atlanta public schools, the local government, and essential city services.” said Bryant Farland, CEO of Edged.
Kwanza Hall, Vice Chair of Develop Fulton, added, “Develop Fulton is involved in this project and we look forward to implementing the outreach program in Atlanta through the developer’s Women in Tech Group. The program will focus on opportunities to educate students about sustainable infrastructure, empowering women and minorities.”
The first building on the Atlanta campus is now operational, providing 27 megawatts of capacity to the region. The facility is part of the Edged data centre network, which is currently under construction across the United States, including Chicago, Kansas City, Dallas, Columbus and Phoenix.

Why it’s important
Edged partnered with Develop Fulton to transform a vacant brownfield site into a state-of-the-art IT campus, which not only improves the community environment, but also transforms it into an asset that benefits the community.
The project represents an economic investment of up to $1.77 billion in the Atlanta area and is expected to bring hundreds of jobs, a huge boost to the local economy and job market.
Develop Fulton’s employees and board members are committed to ensuring that every project undertaken brings tangible and measurable benefits to society, including increased tax revenue. The Women in Tech Group program will create a diverse pool of candidates for jobs at Endeavour and stimulate interest in sustainable technology among middle and high school students.
With the opening of the first building at the Atlanta campus, regional infrastructure capabilities will be enhanced, which will also strengthen Edged Energy’s competitiveness in the data centre market.
