What happened: China Unicom’s 5G-Advanced action plan
China Unicom has unveiled an ambitious plan to deploy 5G-Advanced services across over 300 cities by the end of 2025. Announced at the “Powering the Asian Winter Games with 10 Gbps Connectivity” press conference in Harbin, the plan includes rolling out 5G-Advanced services in 39 key cities and other strategic locations.
As the official communications partner of the 9th Asian Winter Games, China Unicom is leveraging this technology to provide high-speed, intelligent, and secure 10 Gbps connectivity for the event, enabling services like multi-channel HD live streaming and VR broadcasting.
The initiative also includes two key programs: the 5G-Advanced Xinghuo Program, focused on industry-specific applications, and the 5G-Advanced Baichuan Program, aimed at driving AI-powered innovations. China Unicom will lead a device ecosystem alliance to foster collaboration with industry partners and accelerate 5G-Advanced innovation.
