What happened: BICS launches eSIM Hub for global IoT connectivity

BICS, a global communications enabler and part of Proximus Group, has unveiled its eSIM Hub, an orchestration platform intended to simplify the management of eSIM connectivity for enterprises with international IoT deployments. The eSIM Hub works alongside BICS’ existing SIM for Things global roaming IoT connectivity, allowing businesses to provision, manage, and switch connectivity for eSIMs seamlessly. This initiative aligns with the upcoming GSMA IoT standard SGP.32 for remote SIM provisioning, which formalizes the role of IoT connectivity providers.

Why it’s important

The introduction of the eSIM Hub addresses significant challenges faced by enterprises in managing IoT devices across borders, particularly concerning permanent roaming restrictions that can complicate global deployments. By offering a unified solution encompassing one eSIM, one platform, one contract, and one invoice, BICS aims to streamline operations and reduce complexities associated with multiple platforms and regional contracts. This approach not only enhances operational efficiency but also supports compliance with local regulations, ensuring consistent performance and scalable deployments.
