What happened: Airtel Introduces all-in-one OTT packs

On 27 May 2025, Bharti Airtel launched new prepaid plans bundled with over-the-top (OTT) platforms, starting at ₹279 per month. These plans provide access to more than 25 OTT platforms, including Netflix, JioCinema, Zee5, SonyLiv, and Airtel Xstream Play Premium. The ₹279 pack offers a one-month validity with access to Netflix Basic, Zee5, JioCinema, and Airtel Xstream Play Premium. Higher-tier plans, priced at ₹598 and ₹1,729, include unlimited 5G data and unlimited calls, with validities of 28 and 84 days respectively.

These plans aim to consolidate various OTT services into affordable packs, catering to the changing entertainment consumption preferences of prepaid users. Customers can subscribe to these packs through the Airtel Xstream Play application or via prepaid content-only packs. This initiative enhances Airtel’s value proposition by offering unmatched convenience, flexibility, and a diverse range of entertainment options. The launch positions Airtel as the only telecom operator in India offering such an extensive entertainment experience within a single prepaid plan.

Why it’s important

Bharti Airtel’s introduction of OTT-bundled prepaid plans marks a significant development in the Indian telecom sector. By integrating access to over 25 OTT platforms into affordable prepaid plans, Airtel addresses the growing demand for digital entertainment among its user base. This move simplifies the user experience by consolidating multiple subscriptions into a single plan, offering convenience and cost-effectiveness. The inclusion of popular platforms like Netflix, JioCinema, and Zee5 caters to diverse content preferences, enhancing customer satisfaction.

Furthermore, the availability of unlimited 5G data and calling in higher-tier plans adds value for users seeking comprehensive connectivity solutions. This strategy not only strengthens Airtel’s competitive position but also sets a precedent for other telecom operators to explore similar bundled offerings. As digital content consumption continues to rise, such initiatives are pivotal in shaping the future of telecom services in India.
