Is OpenAI’s rush for revenue a threat to humankind?

Mid-November 2023 will probably go down as a seminal few days in the relationship between Artificial Intelligence and humankind,

OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman was fired, hired by Microsoft, rehired by OpenAI, and the board that fired him was itself disbanded. All in the space of about five days.

As the smoke settled and information started to be revealed, it became clear that the conflict was between Ilya Sutskever and the board’s safety first, go-slow approach to AI research, and Altman’s drive for money.
