PhNOG 2024 Week serves as an open, collaborative platform for exchanging knowledge and sharing best practices in internet development. The conference features a rich agenda that includes technical meetings, IP peering forums, and a main plenary session. Additionally, PhNOG is hosting a series of technical workshops focusing on critical topics such as BGP & IPv6 Deployment, IXP, RPKI & DNSSEC, and Open Radio Access Network (ORAN) 101.

This is a landmark year for the Philippine Internet as we celebrate its 30 years and for PhNOG as a community and catalyst on how the Philippine Internet was shaped, especially on our work with domestic peering and interconnection which are the baseline for optimal connectivity.

Achie Atienza, Chair of PhNOG

Achie Atienza, Chair of PhNOG, expressed gratitude to the local internet community for their ongoing support. “This is a landmark year for the Philippine Internet as we celebrate its 30 years and for PhNOG as a community and catalyst on how the Philippine Internet was shaped, especially on our work with domestic peering and interconnection which are the baseline for optimal connectivity,” said Atienza.

One of the highlights of this year’s event is the BGP & IPv6 Deployment workshop, co-organised with the DOST – Advanced Science and Technology Institute (ASTI) and facilitated by trainers from the APNIC Academy. This workshop is part of the ON-IDLE project, funded by the APNIC Foundation/ISIF Asia, which aims to promote IPv6 deployment across universities, colleges, and cable TV operators now serving as ISPs.

It’s logical for DOST-ASTI to come together with fellow IPv6 advocates PhNOG and APNIC Academy, to co-organise this workshop that aligns with the objectives of the ON-IDLE project.

Dr. Franz De Leon, Director of ASTI

Dr. Franz De Leon, Director of ASTI, reaffirmed his support for the initiative. “It’s logical for DOST-ASTI to come together with fellow IPv6 advocates PhNOG and APNIC Academy, to co-organise this workshop that aligns with the objectives of the ON-IDLE project,” he stated.

PhNOG 2024 Week not only commemorates the long history of internet development in the Philippines but also continues to drive forward the evolution of local internet infrastructure, contributing significantly to the global internet community.
