Internet2’s CommEX25: Bridging ideas and infrastructure
The Internet2 Community Exchange 2025 (CommEX25) will gather the research and education networking elite from 28 April to 1 May at the Hilton Anaheim, California. This annual cornerstone event continues to serve as a dynamic intersection for global collaborators driving the future of high-performance networking, federated identity, and advanced cybersecurity.
From seasoned engineers to campus CIOs, CommEX25 attracts a rich tapestry of stakeholders in the research and education (R&E) ecosystem. The programme features technical workshops, strategic panels, and working groups that dissect pressing shared challenges—from scaling secure cloud integration to sustaining resilient infrastructure amidst geopolitical shifts.
Keynote spotlight: AI at the edge of creativity and control
This year’s opening keynote comes from Noelle Russell, founder of the AI Leadership Institute, who will tackle the fine line between innovation and accountability in AI. Her session, “Empowering Inclusive Innovation with Ethical AI: Nurturing Creativity and Protecting Humanity”, explores how generative AI can inspire progress while posing real-world risks, like misinformation, bias, and privacy breaches.
Drawing from her experience at AWS, Microsoft, and NPR, Russell will share insights on building responsible AI systems that balance impact with integrity.
Alongside her keynote, CommEX25 will host a series of incisive sessions and cross-domain dialogues. Network operators, policy thinkers, and digital trust specialists will find ample opportunities to converge on fresh frameworks and common-ground policies.
