The Internet Architecture Board (IAB) has appointed Pete Resnick as the IETF delegate to the 2025 ICANN Nominating Committee (NomCom). The NomCom plays a key role in selecting leadership positions within ICANN, including members of its Board of Directors and other influential roles. This appointment follows the IAB’s request to provide a member for the 2025 NomCom, as previously announced. The IAB expressed appreciation to all candidates who applied for the position and thanked those who contributed feedback during the selection process. Why it is important

The appointment of Pete Resnick as ICANN’s Nominating Committee for 2025 is critical for the following reasons: The Nominating Committee plays a key role in the selection of ICANN’s leadership, including members of the Board of Directors, the leadership of the Supporting Organisations and Advisory Boards, and other key positions within the organisation. These decisions have a profound impact on the governance and direction of the global Internet infrastructure, influencing policies and strategies that affect the entire digital ecosystem.

Resnick brings valuable experience through his participation in the IETF, which is critical to selecting qualified leaders who understand the technical, operational and policy challenges of the Internet. The appointment also highlights the ongoing collaboration between the IAB and key Internet governance bodies such as ICANN, ensuring that the decision-making process represents diverse perspectives and expertise. In addition, the IAB’s recognition of Suzanne Woolf’s service underscores the continuity and importance of strong leadership in ICANN’s governance structure.
