ARIN expands Board of Trustees, calls for nominations

    • The American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN) is accepting nominations until Monday, June 24, to fill five seats on the Advisory Council (AC), one seat on the Number Resource Organisation Number Council (NRO NC), and three seats on the Board of Trustees.
    • The ARIN Board of Trustees, now nine members, oversees ARIN’s scope, mission, and fiscal oversight. It will expand to ten members in 2025.

    OUR TAKE
While ARIN’s nomination process is detailed and well-organised, it could be more open and inclusive. The high requirements for board positions, such as having years of experience and deep knowledge, might limit the number of potential candidates. This could exclude new voices and diverse backgrounds.

The American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN) is accepting nominations until Monday, June 24, to fill seats on the Board and other organisations.

    ARIN seeks experienced candidates

There are five seats available on the Advisory Council (AC), one seat on the Number Resource Organisation Number Council (NRO NC), and three seats on the Board of Trustees open for nomination.

Individuals who meet the nomination guidelines are welcome to submit a self-nomination for a seat on the Board, AC, or NRO NC.

To qualify for a position on the ARIN Board of Trustees, candidates need at least three years of board-related experience, excellent communication and organisational skills, leadership experience, and a solid understanding of ARIN’s mission and the internet ecosystem.

Preferred skills include advanced understanding of internet governance, engagement within the ARIN community, finance, accounting, and audit experience, as well as expertise in areas such as cybersecurity and information technology management.

The AC focuses on advising the Board of Trustees, developing number policy, and assisting with outreach efforts, while the NRO NC represents ARIN at a global level within the ICANN Address Supporting Organisation.

All nominees undergo evaluation by an independent third-party vendor based on their responses to the nomination questionnaire and potential interviews. Nominees for the board are subjected to background checks, interviews, and other evaluations based on standards specified in the Board of Trustees’ advisory letter.
