What happened: APNIC joins CNIRC 2024

APNIC actively engaged in the China Internet Infrastructure Resources Conference (CNIRC) 2024, which took place in Beijing from November 30 to December 1. Organised by the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), the conference attracted around 400 participants and focused on pivotal topics such as IPv6 deployment, artificial intelligence (AI), and satellite Internet.

APNIC representative Jia Rong Low delivered a keynote address, recognising China as a significant Internet power and applauding its notable achievements in advancing IPv6 deployment. This acknowledgment not only highlighted the country’s technical strides but also underscored the global importance of collaboration in building resilient and scalable Internet infrastructure.

The conference served as a platform for exchanging ideas, sharing progress, and identifying opportunities for further cooperation in shaping the future of Internet technology.

Beyond the keynote, APNIC representatives Jia Rong Low and Lu Zhang participated in productive discussions with key stakeholders, including officials from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and CNNIC. A landmark achievement during the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between APNIC and CNNIC, signifying their commitment to strengthening ties and addressing critical Internet-related issues collaboratively.

APNIC also took the opportunity to meet with its members, addressing important queries regarding IPv6 deployment, Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI), Route Origin Validation (ROV), and APNIC membership. These interactions further reinforced APNIC’s role in supporting its community through technical expertise and collaboration, paving the way for enhanced global connectivity and innovation in Internet technologies.
