New Manufacturing Facility to Drive Innovation and Growth
Vuzix recently announced a large-scale manufacturing plant has received certification approval and is already in operation. It focuses on producing waveguide samples for both in-house projects and OEM collaborations. The inaugural waveguides will serve products based on Vuzix’s Ultralite OEM Platform SM.
Situated adjacent to the company’s headquarters, the manufacturing facility currently occupies 12,000 square feet of space and is equipped with Class 1K and 10K clean workshops. Vuzix holds the option to lease an additional 27,000 square feet of open space within the building to accommodate future product demand. This expansion complements the existing 10,000 square feet production facility at the company’s headquarters.
The new manufacturing facility aims to enhance production capacity and reduce manufacturing costs significantly. It will also drive research and development efforts in higher index materials, advanced glass substrates, and unique formulation technologies. The facility boasts extensive in-house capabilities: rapid specification design, mold production, replication, testing, system integration, and waveguide fabrication. It will accommodate the production of both small and large waveguide designs, further strengthening Vuzix’s position in the AR technology market.
The official ribbon-cutting ceremony for this state-of-the-art plant is scheduled for early December this year.
