Odds rise for Magnificent 7 company investing in Bitcoin

  • Kalshi users estimate a 70% chance of a Magnificent 7 company investing in Bitcoin by 2025.
  • Despite MicroStrategy’s Bitcoin success, corporate adoption remains limited among major non-crypto firms.

What happened: Will the Magnificent 7 adopt Bitcoin by 2025?

According to predictions from Kalshi, users believe there is a 70% likelihood that a Magnificent 7 company — including tech giants like Amazon or Microsoft — will invest in Bitcoin by the end of 2025. This speculation comes amid MicroStrategy’s continued success in Bitcoin investments.

Earlier this year, MicroStrategy reported Bitcoin holdings worth approximately $41 billion, representing 2.1% of the cryptocurrency’s total supply. Despite a surge in MicroStrategy’s share price by nearly 500% this year, broader corporate interest in Bitcoin remains tepid.

Tesla’s landmark $1.5 billion Bitcoin purchase in 2021 initially fuelled expectations that other major companies would follow suit, but such enthusiasm did not materialise. Recent corporate shareholder meetings reflect this hesitance: Microsoft investors overwhelmingly rejected a proposal to consider Bitcoin investments, and a similar proposal from Amazon shareholders is unlikely to gain traction.

While MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor believes Bitcoin could become a part of corporate discussions, he does not foresee widespread adoption in the near future.

Why it’s important

Bitcoin adoption among corporations remains a divisive and highly debated topic. While advocates point to the remarkable success stories of MicroStrategy, which has amassed $41 billion in Bitcoin holdings, and Tesla’s landmark $1.5 billion investment in 2021, widespread corporate uptake has yet to materialise. Many companies remain sceptical of Bitcoin’s value proposition, viewing it as a speculative asset rather than a stable store of value.

Challenges such as regulatory uncertainty, environmental concerns over mining practices, and Bitcoin’s notorious price volatility continue to deter broader adoption. These hurdles highlight the gap between the growing interest in cryptocurrencies and their practical integration into traditional financial systems.

Despite this hesitance, the rising odds of Magnificent 7 companies like Amazon, Apple, and Microsoft investing in Bitcoin by 2025 underscore a growing institutional interest. If such major players were to add Bitcoin to their corporate treasuries, it could dramatically reshape perceptions, providing legitimacy and trust for cryptocurrencies as mainstream financial instruments.

This potential adoption could signal a new era where Bitcoin transitions from a niche asset to a core component of corporate portfolios.
