Apple is gearing up to unveil the highly anticipated iPhone 15 series, along with the next-generation Apple Watch, in a matter of weeks. With each new iteration, Apple edges closer to its dream of a truly all-screen iPhone, eliminating bezels and front-facing camera notches. Although changes to the Apple Watch are expected to be more modest, Samsung has also recently announced its own lineup of new phones, tablets, and watches.

Although changes to the Apple Watch are expected to be more modest, Samsung has also recently announced its own lineup of new phones, tablets, and watches.
A Six-Year Journey to Get to the 15
The journey towards the all-screen iPhone began with the iPhone X in 2017, which extended the display to the top and bottom edges. The model still retained a notch to accommodate Face ID and other sensors.
Subsequent models, such as the iPhone 12 and 13 Pro, reduced the bezels and notch size. Now, with the iPhone 15, Apple aims to bring the Dynamic Island display, first introduced in the Apple Watch Series 7, to the standard iPhone models.
The redesign eliminates the notch altogether. Meanwhile, the Pro and Pro Max displays will feature a new technology called “low-injection pressure over-molding” (LIPO), which will reduce border size around the display to a mere 1.5 millimeters.
Most Significant New Features in Years
Beyond the advancements in display technology, the iPhone 15 and 15 Pro lines will introduce several noteworthy features, making it the most significant update since the inclusion of 5G capability three years ago.
The standard iPhone 15 models will showcase improved camera capabilities, featuring major rear camera upgrades and a shift from the Lightning connector to the more versatile USB-C port.
Moving to the iPhone 15 Pro models, users can expect a redesign, replacing stainless-steel edges with lighter and more premium titanium. The Pro models will also boast a redesigned interior for enhanced repairability. The A16 chip, previously exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro series, will now make its way to the standard iPhone 15 and 15 Plus models, while the Pro models will adopt a 3-nanometer chip for improved performance.
Pricing of the iPhone 15
As for pricing, it is anticipated that there may be minor price increases across all four models outside of the US. There is also the possibility of some price adjustments even within the US, especially for the Pro models due to the introduction of titanium and advanced camera systems.
With these updates, the iPhone 15 series sets the stage for an impressive lineup of smartphones, bringing Apple one step closer to its ultimate vision of an all-screen iPhone.
