- Flutterwave launches a fully licensed suite of digital payment solutions in Cameroon, approved by the Central Bank for Central African States.
- The expansion aims to simplify payment systems for businesses, from local merchants to international enterprises, enhancing economic growth across Central Africa.
What happened: Licensed launch opens digital doors for businesses in Cameroon
Flutterwave, one of Africa’s top FinTech companies, has launched licensed digital payment services in Cameroon. The Central Bank for Central African States (BEAC) officially approved the rollout. This gives Flutterwave the legal right to operate in Cameroon. The company partnered with Ecobank to meet technical and compliance requirements.
The new service lets businesses accept payments through mobile money, bank transfers, and cards. It does not need heavy or costly infrastructure. A shop in Yaoundé can send payment links on WhatsApp. A restaurant in Douala can issue digital invoices. All these tools help manage transactions in a simple way.

Why it’s important
The launch makes it easier for businesses to handle payments and run daily operations. Small shops and large companies can use the same platform. Logistics companies, for example, can manage payouts to vendors and drivers. All of this happens through one dashboard, which saves time and effort.
Flutterwave also helps global companies work in Cameroon. They can collect payments in local money and settle accounts without extra tools. This eliminates the need to build new systems or manage multiple providers. The service also includes fraud checks and support. Flutterwave’s CEO said the company wants to support growth in Central Africa. He called it a long-term partnership based on trust.
