OUR TAKE
Incorporating Web3-driven solutions into real-life applications, such as the voucher program launched by Alipay and Avalanche, can yield several tangible benefits. Blockchain-based systems provide heightened security through cryptographic techniques, ensuring that transactions are tamper-proof and resistant to unauthorised alterations. This enhanced security instills trust among users, mitigating concerns about fraud and data breaches commonly associated with centralised systems. By decentralising data storage and authentication processes, blockchain technologies mitigate the risk of data breaches and unauthorised access, empowering individuals to safeguard their privacy in an increasingly digitised world.

About the Web3 voucher program

The program, which allowed customers to obtain coupons by participating in a mini-game, was launched at milk tea shops around Southeast Asia. Customers may collect a voucher in their e-wallet after finishing the game.

Avalanche detailed that the vouchers enable users to receive discounts of up to 50% at over 500 milk tea shops, all powered by an Avalanche Subnet established and overseen by its blockchain service, AvaCloud.

According to Avalanche, the program aims to provide brands like Alipay with exposure to solutions driven by Web3 technology.

Avalanche stated: “The proof-of-concept will allow brands like Alipay+ D-store to test Web3 solutions, including how they can help merchants foster new forms of interaction with users, helping retain them and generate new revenue streams.”

Avalanche extends Web3 program

Avalanche noted that the program is still in its proof-of-concept (POC) phase. According to the blockchain platform, the initiative will be implemented in over 2,000 establishments to reach 100 million consumers with the coupons.

In 2024, Avalanche collaborated with well-known businesses to expand its ecosystem. The smart contract platform and SI Tickets, Sports Illustrated’s ticketing division, teamed on February 20.
