A successful VR concert

“HYPERFOCUS: TOMORROW X TOGETHER VR CONCERT,” screened at Megabox COEX for approximately four weeks, generated excitement with a high seat sales rate of 75% on its first day. Unlike typical movies that see high attendance in the first week with a subsequent drop, “HYPERFOCUS” has shown a reverse trend, maintaining an average occupancy rate of around 40% in its third week. Despite being a new form of content, VR, it has achieved notable milestones, including over 700 real-viewer reviews and an impressive audience rating of 9.9.

With the news of additional releases in five Japanese cities, the interest in ‘HYPER FOCUS’ from overseas fans is very high, to the point that it is trending in real-time on X. In the Tokyo area, tickets were sold out on the first day of release, despite being released simultaneously in three theatres. “The visual level of the TXT really surpassed game characters or CG characters. The reason why ‘HYPERFOCUS’ was a hot topic and a box office hit from the time of its release until the end of its showings is largely due to the various charms and powerful performances of TXT, as well as the fact that it gave fans a new experience with special content, leading to favourable reviews on various SNS. Fans and audiences responded with great satisfaction that the admission fee was worth it, saying things like, “This is content that I don’t get tired of watching over and over again.”

Interactivity: Beyond passive viewing

A standout feature of TXT’s VR concert is the degree of interactivity it offers. Unlike traditional live concerts where the audience’s role is largely passive, the VR format empowers fans to actively engage with the performance. Equipped with VR headsets and controllers, fans can navigate the virtual environment, choose their perspective, and interact with various elements of the concert.

One of the most exciting aspects is the ability to move freely within the virtual space. Fans can opt to view the performance from the front row, hover above the stage for a bird’s-eye view, or even explore the concert’s thematic zones that are seamlessly integrated into the VR environment. This freedom to choose and customise one’s viewing experience makes each concert unique and personal, allowing fans to tailor their experience to their preferences.
