WACREN infrastructure gets facelift
With support from the AfricaConnect3 project (co-funded by the European Commission), WACREN has upgraded its digital infrastructure to enhance connectivity and advanced services for national research and education networks (NRENs) and their communities across the region. This upgrade includes cutting-edge network equipment and the latest high-performance servers, reflecting WACREN’s commitment to cultivating a strong and advanced digital environment for the region’s educational and research institutions.
This cluster will ensure reliable, high-speed connectivity, essential for meeting the extensive data transfer requirements and internet demands of the academic and research sectors. With features that enhance availability, security, and efficient traffic management, WACREN’s upgraded network infrastructure is designed to deliver uninterrupted and secure connections, enabling seamless operations and collaborations among connected institutions.
The infrastructure incorporates the latest performance-efficient servers, essential for running complex applications, conducting advanced data analyses, and hosting a range of community-driven platforms and services. A key advantage is that these servers offer scalability, allowing WACREN to meet the growing demands of its users and ensuring strong support for its ever-expanding user base.
