    • Vodacom Lesotho leverages regional scale to deliver mobile and financial services.
    • The company is bridging connectivity gaps in Lesotho’s remote and rural areas.

Driving Inclusive Connectivity with Vodacom Lesotho

Vodacom Lesotho (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Vodacom Group and ultimately part of the global Vodafone family, is a key player in the country’s communications landscape. Operating in a geographically challenging market, Vodacom Lesotho provides mobile voice, broadband internet, and mobile financial services such as M-Pesa. As of 2024, Vodacom Group operates across six African countries, covering over 295 million people—Lesotho being one of its fastest-growing markets for mobile money adoption and rural broadband expansion.

As a country marked by mountainous terrain and dispersed populations, Lesotho presents infrastructure challenges for service providers. Vodacom Lesotho has met this by investing in 4G expansion, fibre deployment, and inclusive services tailored for rural communities. Its M-Pesa platform, initially launched to support the unbanked, has become a backbone of everyday transactions—from remittances and salary payments to school fees. This financial inclusion tool has also been integrated with government disbursement programmes, showing how telcos can directly support public service delivery.
