THNIC Foundation presents at UA Day 2024

  • THNIC Foundation participated in UA Day 2024 following UASG’s invitation on March 28, 2024.
  • Mr. Anawin Pongsaboripat, Assistant Director, presented on UA implementation, emphasizing local community progress and challenges.
  • Established in 2007, THNIC Foundation promotes internet usage, domain registration, and internet research in Thailand through collaborations with various entities.

The Thai Network Information Center Foundation (THNIC) was invited by the Universal Acceptance Steering Group (UASG) to participate in UNIVERSAL ACCEPTANCE (UA) Day 2024 on March 28, 2024.

Mr. Anawin Pongsaboripat, Assistant Director of the THNIC Foundation, represented the organization at the event.

Presentations on UA implementation

Mr. Pongsaboripat delivered presentations on “Universal Acceptance in Local Communities: Progress, Challenges, and Opportunities” and “Showcasing Universal Acceptance Implementation.” He shared insights from THNIC Foundation’s experience in implementing UA initiatives within the local context, discussing advancements, challenges, solutions, and best practices aimed at fostering UA adoption at the grassroots level.

About THNIC Foundation

The Thai Network Information Center (THNIC) foundation, established in 2007, serves as a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering internet usage in Thailand.

Its core mission involves promoting internet domain registration, managing databases for country code top-level domains (.th and .ไทย), supporting internet research and development in Thailand, cultivating expertise in internet technology, providing guidance on internet development, offering public services, and partnering with governmental, private, academic, and other relevant entities in advancing internet technology.

Objectives of THNIC Foundation

  • Promote and facilitate the use of internet, domain name registration and management of “.th Top Level Domain Name” database
  • Support studies, researches and developments on internets in Thailand.
  • Develop human resources to have knowledge and competency in internet technology, which would be beneficial to the nation.
  • Provide advice on internet development in Thailand to the society.
  • Practice public benefits or cooperate with government sector, academies, private sector and other charity organizations on internet technology.
  • Coordinate and cooperate with international internet organization.
  • Enhance knowledge and understanding on internet, domain name and other internet technologies to public.
  • Not get involved in politics in any way.

About UASG

The UASG is the Universal Acceptance Steering Group. It was founded by Ram Mohan at the ICANN52 meeting in Singapore in February 2015 and tasked with undertaking activities that will effectively promote the Universal Acceptance of all valid domain names and email addresses. The group is made up of representatives from more than 120 companies (including Afilias, Apple, CNNIC, Eco, i2 Coalition, ICANN, Google, Microsoft, NIXI, THNIC and Yandex), governments and community groups.
