What happened: Kristjan Kaar replaces Ivo Dimitrov as Finom’s CPO

Finom, a digital financial services start-up based in the Netherlands, has appointed Kristjan Kaar as its new chief product officer (CPO). This move comes as part of the company’s strategy for accelerated growth. Kaar brings a wealth of experience from his previous role as CPO at OakNorth Bank, where he led product development and innovation in the UK-based bank’s credit intelligence unit.

Kaar takes over from Ivo Dimitrov, a co-founder of Finom, who held the CPO role for over five years. Dimitrov will transition to a new position as chief venture officer within the company. Founded in 2020, Finom provides a suite of digital services to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), including payment solutions, financial management tools, and accounting features. With more than 100,000 customers across five European countries, Finom aims to further expand its reach in the coming years.

The appointment of Kristjan Kaar as CPO signals Finom’s commitment to strengthening its leadership team and accelerating its product development. Kaar’s background in fintech, particularly at OakNorth Bank, makes him well-suited to lead Finom through its next phase of growth. This move also comes at a time when Finom is expanding its product suite and services to better serve SMEs across Europe.

The company’s recent €50 million Series B funding round and its strategic acquisitions, such as the 2022 purchase of Kapaga, show Finom’s ambition to solidify its position in the European market. With the goal of reaching one million SME customers by 2026, Kaar’s appointment is expected to play a pivotal role in achieving this target.
