ARTERIA & AT TOKYO install first fibre optic cable across port

  • ARTERIA and AT TOKYO installed the first fiber optic cable in the Port of Tokyo to enhance connectivity.
  • The new redundant routing provides a safe, high-speed alternative that mitigates disaster risk.
  • The product of the new project – high-capacity, low-latency network to support high-tech industries and international connectivity.

ARTERIA Networks Corporation and AT TOKYO Corporation have announced a groundbreaking partnership to install the first optical fibre cable traversing Tokyo Port. This innovative project aims to connect the Toyosu-Ariake and Shibaura-Shinagawa areas, which are key hubs for IT companies.

In response to the growing data traffic driven by digital transformation, AI, and IoT, ARTERIA and AT TOKYO seek to enhance Tokyo’s communications infrastructure. The new cable, installed using the Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) method, will provide a high-capacity, low-latency connection. This will support major financial institutions and tech companies in Tokyo.

The new fibre optic cable will significantly improve network resilience and availability by offering redundant land and marine routes. This setup ensures a secure, high-speed alternative to traditional land-based routes, mitigating risks such as flooding and liquefaction during disasters.
