AIMS Data Centre, established nearly 30 years ago in Malaysia, has embarked on a significant expansion journey, now extending its footprint into Thailand. Thailand, with its vast potential, will see AIMS increasing its data centre capacity, both vertically and potentially with standalone hyperscalers,” stated Chong.

Discussing technological advancements, Chong highlighted the industry’s competitive nature. “While all data centres aim to provide high accommodation of power and cooling, AIMS strives to be the first to support higher capacities per rack,” he explained. The company’s focus is on meeting the escalating demands, which have seen requirements surge from 2-5 kilowatts per rack to as high as 120 kilowatts.

AIMS Data Centre is also committed to sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices. “In Thailand, our focus is on increasing the use of renewable energy, although this requires substantial government support and market adjustments,” Chong said. He highlighted the company’s aspirations to partner with renewable energy providers, mirroring initiatives seen in Malaysia, such as the YTL Power and Nvidia collaboration for green energy.
