AudioCodes Adds New Webex Phones and Gateways

  • AudioCodes release three new IP phone models and multiple MediaPack analogue gateways certified for Webex Calling.
  • Expanded certification may ease cloud migration, but the real adoption of these devices in mixed environments remains to be seen.

What happened

AudioCodes, a voice technology company that powers enterprise communication such as Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex, Zoom and Genesys, has extended its certified voice device range for Webex Calling, Cisco’s cloud-based unified communications platform, with the addition of three IP phones (C450HD, 445HD, 425HD) and a suite of MediaPack analogue gateways.

The new phones cater to different workplace roles: the C450HD is a top-end model with a 5-inch touchscreen and integrated Wi‑Fi, the 445HD offers a high-end business phone experience with programmable keys, and the 425HDtargets mid-range office spaces. The MediaPack gateways allow legacy analogue devices, such as fax machines or door entry systems, to connect to Webex Calling.

AudioCodes already offers certified PSTN connectivity via Cloud Connect and session border controllers. These additions aim to provide organisations and partners with more options for deploying Webex Calling while maintaining compatibility with existing analogue equipment.

Why it’s important  : Flexibility comes with caveats

The expanded certification potentially reduces complexity in cloud migrations by allowing a mix of IP phones and analogue gateways. Organisations may benefit from fewer suppliers and simplified integration when standardising on Webex Calling.

However, while more device choices are available, the practical adoption of these models remains uncertain. Many organisations operate in mixed or legacy environments, and simply certifying devices does not guarantee they will be widely deployed or that integration challenges will be fully resolved. Analysts suggest that enterprises may still face technical hurdles, cost considerations, and ongoing support demands despite certification. The move signals AudioCodes’ ongoing effort to broaden its voice device portfolio, yet the market impact will ultimately depend on how organisations balance cloud ambitions with legacy infrastructure realities.
