    • Apple has updated its iMac desktop with a new M4 chip, offering superior performance compared to the previous M3 model.
    • The new iMac comes in a variety of colors and includes several other upgrades.

    What happened

Meet the new iMac with the M4 chip—it’s more powerful and comes in seven colors: green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver. It offers improved performance with an 8-core CPU and up to a 10-core GPU. The entry-level model is priced at $1,299 and comes with two Thunderbolt USB-C 4 ports. While the more expensive models start at $1,499 and feature four ports.

The iMac now enjoy a 24-inch, 4.5K display with a new nano-texture glass option for an additional $200. This helps reduce reflections and glare. The base RAM has been doubled to 16GB, with the option to configure up to 32GB on higher-end models. There’s a 12MP webcam and smarter Apple features, including AI tools for writing and editing, plus a new Siri design. The top model can handle two 6K displays at 60Hz or one 8K display at 120Hz. Preorders for the updated iMac are available now, with shipping expected to start on November 8th.
