    • Instagram has announced that it will allow users to create custom chatbots for their profiles.
    • This feature aims to revolutionise the way users engage with their followers and customers.

    OUR TAKE
Instagram’s diverse user base can now develop profile-specific themed chatbots, such as those dedicated to your interests like photography, dining, or pet care. Instagram’s move to enable custom chatbots creation is a testament to the platform’s commitment to innovation and user-centric design. As chatbots become a part of the Instagram experience, users can look forward to a more dynamic and connected social media landscape.

    What happened

Meta Platforms Inc., the parent company of Instagram, is set to enable users to develop their own AI-powered chatbots and integrate them into their profiles. This move is aimed at attracting creators and enhancing the integration of the company’s artificial intelligence software into its flagship consumer products.

The feature called “AI Studio”, which enables creators with professional accounts to craft their own personalised AI chatbot that serves as a representation of themselves. This chatbot can address frequently asked questions from fans or followers.

Meta first launched “AI Studio” in September of last year. On Monday, the company began rolling out these features to some users, with a wider release planned over the coming weeks.

“With the introduction of custom chatbots, we are excited to bring our community a more interactive and dynamic way to connect,” said a spokesperson for Instagram. “This feature is designed to empower our users and make their presence on Instagram more engaging and efficient.”

Meta has been making substantial investments in AI in the past few years, and Zuckerberg has expressed his expectation that the company will create some of the top chatbots globally. Meta already provides its own AI chatbot, known as Meta AI, within platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook.

    Why it’s important

The custom chatbots on Instagram can be designed to provide quick responses to frequently asked questions, offer information about products or services, or even guide users through a specific process. This feature is expected to streamline communication between users and profile owners, ultimately enhancing the overall user experience on the platform.

In addition to improving user engagement, the custom chatbots feature on Instagram also opens up new opportunities for businesses to interact with their customers in a more efficient and personalised manner. By utilising chatbots, companies can provide instant support, gather valuable feedback, and drive conversions through automated messaging.

Overall, the introduction of custom chatbots on Instagram represents a significant step towards enhancing user communication and engagement on the platform. As more users leverage this feature to automate their interactions, we can expect to see a more seamless and efficient user experience on Instagram in the future.
