Pichai acknowledged room for improvement

Pichai defended the recent layoffs, acknowledging room for improvement in the handling of the situation. He framed the cuts as a strategy to simplify the organisation and drive efficiency, aiming to address unnecessary layers and bureaucracy within the company.

Despite concerns about the rapid integration of generative AI, Pichai compared it to past transformative shifts, emphasising its importance in reimagining products. He assured that the transition, including the replacement of Google Assistant with the Bard chat bot, would be transparent and opt-in.
