What Happened: Vodafone launches procure & connect

On 3 April 2025, Vodafone announced the unification of its Procurement Company and Voice and Roaming Services divisions under the new brand, Vodafone Procure & Connect. This strategic move aims to simplify and enhance services for customers. The Vodafone Procurement Company manages an annual spend of €19 billion, collaborating with 8,000 global suppliers. Vodafone Voice and Roaming Services partners with over 700 mobile networks, handling over €1.5 billion in annual roaming and voice trading volume, and 25 billion voice minutes. The consolidation is designed to create a single, trusted partner for procurement, logistics, voice, and roaming services, supporting both Vodafone and third-party customers.

Ninian Wilson, Vodafone Group’s Supply Chain Management Director and CEO of Vodafone Procure & Connect, stated that this launch marks an important milestone, simplifying offerings and enhancing innovation by combining the strengths of two divisions into one trusted partner.

    Why It’s Important:

The formation of Vodafone Procure & Connect signifies a strategic consolidation within the telecommunications sector. By merging procurement and roaming services, Vodafone aims to streamline operations and enhance service delivery. This move reflects a broader industry trend where companies seek to integrate services for improved efficiency and customer experience. The consolidation may lead to cost efficiencies and foster innovation by combining resources and expertise.

Additionally, it positions Vodafone to better compete in a rapidly evolving market by offering a more cohesive suite of services. This development is indicative of the telecommunications industry’s focus on operational efficiency and enhanced service offerings to meet the growing demands of global connectivity.
