    • US$254 million project finance plus US$74 million VAT facility for Chile expansion

    • First international green-labelled deal for Scala Data Centers outside Brazil

What happened:US$328 million for Chile growth

Scala Data Centers has raised US $328 million to expand operations in Chile. The deal includes US $254 million in project finance and a US $74 million VAT facility. Funding will support three hyperscale data centres and the Nova Lampa power substation.

The transaction is backed by MUFG, SMBC, BNP Paribas and Natixis. It is Scala’s first international project finance deal and its first green-labelled cross-border financing.

The new facilities are located in Lampa, Huechuraba 2 and Curauma. The Nova Lampa substation will deliver stable renewable energy supply, according to Data Center Dynamics. Scala currently operates 23 MW of IT capacity in Chile. Another 30 MW is reserved through advance agreements with hyperscale clients, reported Telecompaper.

    Why it’s important

This is the largest single-country project finance deal for data centres in Latin America. It establishes a new standard for green infrastructure funding in the region. All Chilean facilities will use 100 per cent renewable energy. They will include zero-waste water systems and a design PUE below 1.45. These features align with strict environmental and ESG standards.

The expansion is expected to generate thousands of jobs. It strengthens Chile’s position as a key digital hub between Latin America and Asia‑Pacific.Demand for cloud, AI and hyperscale services in the region is growing rapidly. This investment positions Scala Data Centers to meet that demand while maintaining sustainable operations. Scala has already issued over US$800 million in green debentures in Brazil. This new Chile project extends its commitment to environmentally responsible growth and disciplined financing.
