What happened: Second draft incorporates community feedback and highlights key changes

The RIPE NCC has published a second draft of the RIR Governance Document, following a community consultation period from 14 April to 27 May 2025. This updated version reflects feedback from the community and aims to improve the document’s clarity and effectiveness. The NRO NC has also released a summary outlining the major differences between the first and second drafts, along with the rationale behind these changes. Some suggestions, though considered thoughtful, were not adopted in the revised text.

    Why it is important

Updating the RIR Governance Document is crucial to maintaining transparent and effective governance of Regional Internet Registries (RIRs). Incorporating community feedback ensures policies are aligned with the needs of the global internet community. The consultation process demonstrates the RIPE NCC’s commitment to collaborative governance and continuous improvement, reinforcing trust in internet resource management. These changes also provide clearer guidance for stakeholders and help maintain consistency across global RIR operations.
