Oracle sells Gemini AI models via Google cloud deal

  • Oracle will sell Google’s Gemini AI models via Oracle Cloud and enterprise apps, using Google’s Vertex AI platform.
  • The deal expands enterprise AI access without vendor lock-in, reflecting growing cross-platform collaboration in the cloud industry.

What happened: Oracle, Google bring Gemini AI to Oracle Cloud

Oracle and Google’s cloud units have struck a deal allowing Oracle to sell Google’s Gemini AI models through Oracle Cloud and its enterprise applications. While the advanced models will continue to run on Google’s infrastructure, Oracle clients can access them via Google’s Vertex AI platform seamlessly integrated within Oracle’s ecosystem.

This deal follows Oracle’s earlier partnership with xAI and allows developers to generate text, images, video, and audio using a range of AI models, all paid for using existing Oracle Cloud credit systems. The agreement strengthens Oracle’s strategy of offering flexible AI options and extends Google’s enterprise reach without the need to manage infrastructure migration.

Why it’s important

This collaboration marks a significant shift in how major tech providers position themselves within the AI ecosystem, embracing openness rather than promoting single-vendor loyalty. Oracle’s willingness to host external AI capabilities demonstrates the growing demand for interoperable, best-in-class tools in enterprise environments.

For businesses, it promises richer AI functionality without complex vendor lock-in or migration effort. The move mirrors broader industry trends where cloud platforms are partnering rather than competing head-on, similar to how Microsoft now supports OpenAI models.

As AI becomes a cornerstone of digital transformation, Oracle’s integration of Gemini models exemplifies a pragmatic approach—meeting client needs by blending internal and external AI strengths. It confirms that the future of enterprise AI platforms is collaborative, not combative.
