  • Nokia signs a five-year deal with Fibrus to deploy Deepfield, enhancing broadband security and analytics.
  • The solution strengthens DDoS protection and supports Fibrus’ rapid FTTH expansion in Northern Ireland and Cumbria.

What happened: Nokia partners with Fibrus to boost network security

Nokia has secured a five-year partnership with UK-based broadband provider Fibrus to enhance network security and analytics. As part of the deal, Fibrus will deploy Nokia’s Deepfield technology, a sophisticated network analytics solution that provides detailed insights into traffic behavior. This partnership aims to optimize Fibrus’ network infrastructure, enabling better resource management and ensuring reliable broadband services.

The agreement comes as Fibrus accelerates its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) expansion across Northern Ireland and Cumbria. With a 50% adoption rate for its FTTH services, including high-speed 2 Gbps offerings, Fibrus is poised for rapid growth. Nokia’s Deepfield solution will be key in supporting this expansion, allowing Fibrus to scale operations effectively while preparing for future upgrades to technologies like 25G, 50G, and 100G PON.

Why it’s important

This partnership is crucial for Fibrus as it navigates the complexities of rapid network expansion. By leveraging Nokia’s Deepfield solution, Fibrus will be able to optimize its network’s efficiency, ensuring customers receive fast and reliable services. The deal also signals a broader trend of FTTH providers increasingly relying on advanced network analytics to maintain operational performance as broadband demands rise.
