  • Knetco and Huawei complete 5G Advanced deployment across Kuwait’s three mobile operators.
  • The project aligns with Kuwait Vision 2035, enabling faster networks and smart applications.

What happened: Knetco delivers Huawei 5G Advanced in Kuwait

Knetco, an official contractor for Kuwait’s Ministry of Communications, has successfully deployed Huawei‘s 5G Advanced across all three of the country’s mobile operators (TechAfricaNews).

The project, completed on a compressed timeline, included full infrastructure readiness, system integration, and testing, delivering a network capable of speeds up to ten times faster than standard 5G, ultra-low latency, and significantly increased capacity. Knetco collaborated closely with Huawei to ensure a seamless rollout, enabling high-demand digital services such as AI-driven industrial applications, smart-city management, and advanced data-driven solutions.

The network deployment also establishes the technological foundation for innovative services, including augmented reality, autonomous systems, and real-time IoT applications. By integrating this cutting-edge technology across all operators, Kuwait demonstrates both technical capacity and strategic ambition, marking a major step in its efforts to modernise its digital infrastructure and reinforce its position as a regional telecom innovator.

Why it’s important

The 5G Advanced rollout is central to Kuwait Vision 2035, the country’s national plan to diversify its economy through technology and digitalisation. By adopting 5.5G technology, Kuwait is positioning itself as a regional leader in telecom innovation, supporting advanced applications such as drone operations, smart mobility, Li-Fi communications, and other next-generation digital services.

The network also provides a foundation for future 6G development, reflecting the nation’s long-term commitment to staying at the forefront of connectivity. The rapid deployment highlights the effectiveness of collaboration between government agencies and private partners, exemplified by Knetco and Huawei’s coordinated efforts.

Beyond economic benefits, this infrastructure upgrade enhances societal resilience, enabling healthcare, education, and public services to leverage high-speed, low-latency connectivity. The milestone sets a benchmark for neighbouring Gulf states, demonstrating that strategic investment and fast execution can deliver both technological leadership and tangible societal improvements, strengthening Kuwait’s role as a competitive, future-ready digital economy in the region.
