What happened: Digital catapult joins 6G leader project to advance connectivity

Digital Catapult has joined the European Commission-backed 6G LEADER project. This initiative aims to advance 6G connectivity solutions. The project brings together leading tech companies, including Samsung Electronics UK, Telefonica, and Nokia UK.

Why it’s important

Digital Catapult’s involvement shows its commitment to next-generation, open, and interoperable networks. It has already made strides in advancing UK connectivity through accelerator programmes and 5G testbeds. This new project will push the boundaries of 6G technology.

The European Commission’s investment highlights the strategic importance of the 6G LEADER initiative. The project will shape Europe’s future in telecommunications. It is also part of a broader effort to set global standards for future networks. The project will last for 36 months.
