- UAE’s SpaceTech firm partners with Angola for satellite and AI solutions
- Agreement spans seven areas including drones and Earth observation
What happened: Space42 and Angola’s military agree wide-ranging technology collaboration
Space42, a UAE-based AI-driven SpaceTech company, has signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding with Angola’s Military Intelligence and Security Service (SISM). The deal was formalised in Luanda during the UAE president’s official state visit to Angola. Under the agreement, both parties will work together on advanced satellite communications, Earth observation, artificial intelligence, high-altitude platforms, national security drones, border control systems and command-and-control centre development.
Space42 already operates in Angola providing full coverage via its YahClick satellite service. This partnership will extend its infrastructure with enhanced capabilities from the upcoming Thuraya-4 satellite. High-level meetings between Space42’s executives and Angolan officials led to live demonstrations of space-based intelligence and AI-powered technologies, paving the way for the deeper technical collaboration now formalised.

Why it’s important
This MOU marks a notable milestone in UAE-Angola relations by expanding technological cooperation beyond routine diplomacy. The collaboration blends space, AI, and defence technologies to strengthen Angola’s security infrastructure and operational resilience. Enhanced satellite and drone systems, coupled with geospatial and AI analytics, offer Angola improved capability for surveillance, border control and decision-making processes. For Space42, this solidifies its role as a trusted regional technology partner and underlines its long-term commitment to African markets. The agreement also signals the growing importance of SpaceTech in shaping national security and infrastructure strategies across the continent.
