What happened: Salesforce signs agreement to acquire Convergence.ai

On May 15, 2025, Salesforce announced a definitive agreement to acquire Convergence.ai, a London-based AI agent technology company. Convergence.ai specialises in developing advanced AI systems capable of performing complex, human-like tasks in digital environments. Their technology enables AI agents to navigate dynamic interfaces, handling web-based workflows and multi-step processes by adapting in real time to challenges such as pop-ups, errors, and UI updates.

Founded in April 2024 by Marvin Purtorab and Andy Toulis, Convergence.ai gained fast attention for its smart AI agents. In September 2024, it raised $12 million in pre-seed funds. Balderton Capital led the round. Salesforce Ventures and Shopify Ventures also joined.

Salesforce now plans to add Convergence.ai’s team and tech to its Agentforce platform. The goal is to speed up work on new AI agents that can handle complex tasks. The deal is set to close in Q2 of Salesforce’s fiscal year 2026. It still needs to meet standard closing steps.

Why it’s important

The acquisition of Convergence.ai is a strategic move by Salesforce to enhance its AI-driven solutions, particularly through its Agentforce initiative. By integrating Convergence.ai’s expertise in AI agent design and autonomous task execution, Salesforce aims to develop more adaptive and capable AI agents. These agents are expected to boost productivity and reduce manual work for Salesforce customers by efficiently handling dynamic interfaces and managing diverse processes.

Furthermore, the acquisition marks the foundation of Salesforce’s AI R&D operation in London, leveraging the city’s concentration of pioneering scientists and engineers. This move aligns with Salesforce’s broader AI roadmap and its commitment to advancing AI capabilities across various industries.
