Salesforce pledges $1B for Mexico AI push

    • The investment includes a new Mexico City headquarters and a Global Delivery Center for AI consulting
    • Salesforce will also back AI education via a $250,000 grant to boost local skills

What happened: Salesforce will invest US $1 billion in Mexico

Salesforce announced it will commit US $1 billion to its operations in Mexico over the next five years. The funds will support building a new five-storey office in Mexico City’s Polanco district (Miyana II building) and establishing a Global Delivery Center (GDC) to serve clients across the Americas.

Part of the investment will also go into workforce development. Salesforce plans to invest US $250,000 in the nonprofit Amigos de Filantrofilia to train 100,000 Mexican students in AI skills. The new GDC is expected to offer consulting services in English, Spanish and Portuguese, focusing on Salesforce’s Agentforce AI agent platform.  Salesforce says it already has clients in Mexico such as Xcaret, Grupo Bafar, and FEMSA.

In addition, the move follows on from previous initiatives: Salesforce opened a new product line, Agentforce, in 2024 to provide automation of routine work and simplify business operations. The company began operating in Mexico in 2006, growing steadily and now having nearly 1,000 local partners and resellers.

    Why it’s important

This significant investment signals Salesforce’s belief in Mexico as a strategic hub for AI growth and innovation in Latin America. By placing infrastructure and talent development there, Salesforce hopes to centralise operations and consulting for the region.

Mexico’s proximity to the U.S. and a rising tech talent pool make it an appealing base.  The GDC could enable more efficient delivery of AI services, boosting margins and regional reach. The multilingual support adds flexibility across Latin American markets.

The grant for AI education shows Salesforce is not just investing in infrastructure but also in human capital.
