What happened: Launch of New York City’s first quantum-AI data centre

Oxford Quantum Circuits (OQC) and Digital Realty have launched the first Quantum-AI data centre in New York City. The centre is located at Digital Realty’s JFK10 facility. It combines OQC’s GENESIS quantum computer with NVIDIA’s Grace Hopper Superchips. This integration creates a hybrid platform for quantum and AI computing.

This deployment is significant. It marks the first time a quantum computer has been installed in a New York City data centre. The centre will support hybrid workloads for enterprises. It is embedded within Digital Realty’s PlatformDIGITAL®, which offers secure, interconnected infrastructure. The data centre will primarily serve applications in finance, security, and AI. Additionally, it is a cornerstone of the UK-US Tech Trade Partnership, promoting collaboration between the two countries.

    Why it’s important

The new Quantum-AI data centre brings quantum computing closer to industries that need high-performance computing. The integration of AI supercomputing with quantum technology will improve multiple sectors. These include finance, where it can enhance risk modelling, and security, where it will enable better simulations. The centre will also accelerate model training and data generation, critical for AI innovation.

Furthermore, the facility highlights the importance of international partnerships. By combining British innovation with American infrastructure, the centre will lead in quantum computing. This collaboration sets the stage for future advances in both quantum and AI technologies.
