- LINX joins US rural broadband coalition INDATEL to expand peering and interconnection reach
- Partnership follows LINX’s separate move with Megaport to streamline cloud access for members
What happened: Strategic move connects rural US providers to global networks
The London Internet Exchange (LINX) has partnered with INDATEL, a US-based coalition of over 900 rural and regional broadband providers, to improve access to high-quality interconnection and peering services across underserved areas of the United States. As a newly appointed INDATEL Affiliate, LINX will work directly with local ISPs to promote the advantages of Internet Exchange Point (IXP) connectivity, allowing them to connect more efficiently to global content and cloud services.
The announcement comes amid surging traffic growth at LINX’s Northern Virginia exchange, LINX NoVA, where traffic volumes have quadrupled over the past year. According to LINX’s head of existing business, Inga Turner, the new partnership reflects growing demand for localised, cost-effective interconnection. INDATEL’s director of marketing, Shiloh Vance, described the collaboration as “critical” to strengthening rural networks and supporting the organisation’s continued investment in infrastructure.

Why it’s important
This dual-pronged strategy signals LINX’s ongoing expansion beyond the UK and reflects the growing importance of regional interconnection in both the US and Europe. With rural connectivity still a persistent challenge in America, the partnership with INDATEL could be transformative.
The arrangement not only improves direct peering for rural providers but also helps reduce latency, lower costs, and improve access to cloud resources. By supporting the localisation of traffic, LINX is reinforcing the decentralisation of the internet—making it more efficient and resilient for previously underserved communities.
