  • Former Nokia executive Mary O’Neill appointed CEO of the newly launched AIOps firm, NumoData.
  • NumoData focuses on AI-driven network intelligence, with backing from TELEO Capital.

What happened: Mary O’Neill appointed CEO of AIOps firm NumoData

Mary O’Neill, a former senior executive at Nokia, has been appointed CEO of NumoData, a new spin-off software firm that specialises in Network AIOps (Artificial Intelligence for IT Operations) and intelligent service assurance. The company, which has secured backing from private equity firm TELEO Capital, aims to bring cutting-edge AI-driven solutions to network management and service assurance in the telecommunications industry.

In a statement released by the company, O’Neill expressed excitement over NumoData’s mission to leverage AI and autonomous operations to develop smarter, faster, and more autonomous networks. She noted that the company’s solutions are designed to empower operators to build networks that enrich the digital lives of end users. “With our commitment to developing AI and autonomous operations, we’re building customer solutions that will define the next era of network intelligence,” she said.

O’Neill brings significant experience to her new role, having spent seven years at Nokia, where she held several leadership positions, including leading the Analytics Business Unit. Her extensive background in telecom and network analytics positions her well to lead NumoData into the rapidly growing AIOps market, which focuses on using artificial intelligence to improve operational efficiency in complex network environments.

Why it’s important

NumoData’s launch marks a significant step forward in the AIOps space, which is gaining traction in the telecom industry. The company’s focus on AI-powered network intelligence is timely, given the growing complexity of networks and the increasing demand for faster, more efficient network operations. By structuring and analysing fragmented data, NumoData aims to provide telecom operators with the insights needed to optimise their networks and enhance service delivery.

With O’Neill at the helm, the company’s leadership is well-positioned to drive innovation in the AIOps market. As telecom operators continue to adopt AI and automation technologies, NumoData’s solutions could play a pivotal role in transforming the way networks are managed, ensuring that they are more adaptive, resilient, and capable of meeting the demands of the digital economy.
