What happened: Equinix appoints Arquelle Shaw to lead Americas
Equinix has appointed Arquelle Shaw as its new president of the Americas, effective immediately. In this role, Shaw will oversee the company’s strategy, operations and growth across the US, Canada and Latin America. She brings more than 20 years of experience in enterprise technology, sales and business transformation, having worked at AT&T, Accenture and American Express prior to joining Equinix in 2019. Most recently, she served as senior vice‑president of sales for the Americas for six years, and will continue in that capacity until the end of Q3 to ensure a smooth leadership transition.

Why it’s important
This appointment reinforces Equinix’s strategy of strengthening regional leadership in its highest-growth area. The Americas represent the company’s fastest-expanding market and the new role places Shaw at the centre of its digital infrastructure ambitions. As demand surges for AI-capable data centres, multicloud connectivity and interconnection services, her mandate includes scaling the existing IBX data‑centre footprint across key hubs like Silicon Valley, Toronto, Mexico City and São Paulo.
Shaw’s deep experience in enterprise sales and transformation matters in today’s hyper‑competitive tech landscape. Her history with major global firms – including a long tenure at AT&T and senior roles at Accenture and American Express – signals an ability to bridge technical innovation with commercial strategy. This continuity in sales leadership, maintained through Q3, ensures Equinix keeps momentum with existing customers while pursuing new enterprise engagements.
